The enormous turnip
This week we have been finding out about the story of the enormous turnip. We looked at different vegetables that you can grow including a turnip and made it into soup which we have taken home to share with our families.

World Book Day we all dressed up all our favourite characters.
Hansel and Gretel
This week we are learning about Hansel and Gretel. We have made a house made of biscuits, icing and sweets. We then took it home to share with our families.
Gingerbread man
"Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man."
We had fun today making our gingerbread men but we had to make sure they didn't jump out of the oven and run away.
Judaism-potato latkes
We have been finding out about the special food that Jewish people have during the celebration of Hanukkah. We talked about the ingredients and how they needed to be prepared. We then sat together at snack time to share them and talk about what they tasted like.
Butterfly release
Today we said goodbye to the butterflies that we have been caring for. We all held one of the butterflies on our hands before they flew away to lay their eggs so that there will be more butterflies.

Our first butterfly has emerged from the cocoon. We are very excited and have given it some special food.
Spirit of Romero day
Today we have been finding out about Blessed Oscar Romero and what he believed in. We made flowers of hope for what we could do in our world and school.
World book day
We all came to school today dressed as our favourite book character. We have shared stories with each other during the day.
Percy the Park Keeper
We have been learning about Percy the Park Keeper. We made a large Percy to sit in his hut as part of the role play area. We then made our own animals and mini Percy from a cardboard tube, paint and paper. We had great fun and we are going to be doing some of the jobs that Percy does after theā¦
Paper bag game
Today we have been looking at differences between our local area and a city in India. We pretended we lived in India and had to make paper bags to sell to survive. They were very tricky to make and we realised we are very lucky to live in Skelmersdale.

Adventure playground
We got to play on the adventure playground because we got 100% attendance last week which was our first week in Reception.
