Welcome to the Foundation Stage!
We have a wonderful team working within our Reception and Nursery Class. Miss Baxter is our class teacher and we are very lucky to have Mrs Regan and Miss Byrne as our class teaching assistants.
Our FSU has undergone lots of very exciting changes and we are very excited to show you all. We have recently invested in lots of beautiful new furniture to enhance our FSU area and develop our skills in relation to all areas of learning. We have also invested in lots of new home and guided reading books as our ‘big’ aim is to foster a love of reading alongside developing our reading skills and growing into confident, independent readers.
If you have any questions or would like to know more then please contact school directly and we will be happy to help.
Reading books will be changed twice weekly on Monday’s and Thursday’s. Please ensure book bags are in school every day so your children can read with their teachers.
Every time you read at home and comment within your child’s reading record book, they will earn 1 reading star. For every 10 stars they will earn a reading certificate for them to display proudly at home.
We strongly encourage you to read with your child every day. Phonic information, sound mats and letter formation cards will also be included within your child’s book bag along with information about how best to support reading at home.
PE will take place every Thursday morning. Can children please arrive at school wearing their PE kits every Thursday ready for the session.
Our FSU garden:
We are fortunate to have a wonderful outdoor area which we use every day rain or shine. Could you please ensure that your children are sent to school with appropriate footwear and warm clothing on our wet and windy days and have spare clothing and wellies in school contained in a backpack for those unpredictable weather days.
To keep you up to date with messages, photographs and videos, we use a great app called Seesaw, which you can download on your phone and receive notifications instantly about your child. You will receive a letter detailing how to access this at the beginning of the year so please set this up as soon as possible. If you need any assistance, then our FSU staff will be more than willing to help.
Youtube: Singing Walrus and Super Simple songs for mathematical development.
