What is Live Simply?
The LiveSimply award is an opportunity for Catholic communities – parishes, schools, religious orders and chaplaincies – to answer the call for us to care for our common home and stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers around the world.
The bishops of England and Wales have encouraged all parishes and schools to work towards the award as a way of “protecting this world which God has entrusted to us”. We, at St. Edmund's, have begun work towards achieving the 'Live Simply' award. Please see below.

Campaign for Justice - CAFOD
St. Edmund's children learnt about climate change and its effect on poorer countries. They discussed Pope Francis's message and how this was unfair. They drew and painted posters and wrote a letter to the local MP.
Campaign for Justice - CAFOD
The children's posters were sent to CAFOD. One child's poster was selected and displayed in the Houses of Parliament during COP28.

Pre-loved Sale
The School Council organised a Pre-loved Sale to raise money for CAFOD. Children were encouraged to bring in items from home so that they could be sold at our sale. The children brought in their pocket money to buy items. The School Council wrote the following message:
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Thank you for your generosity, in helping St Edmund's with our first pre-loved sale.
Your donations helped us raise £148! Give yourselves a pat on the back!
The money raised will go to CAFOD and St Edmund's school fund, to help towards the cost of future school trips.
We have leftover donations of clothes, shoes and toys that we will be giving to SVP (a local charity) who are based in Skelmersdale. These will be distributed to families in need.
Thanks for all your help,
All behalf of the school council.
