Year 2 Blog

This afternoon we made a train, a rocket and a truck using the Bauplay construction set. We used diagrams and plans to make them. They turned out very well and we really enjoyed making them. Next week we are going to make our own vehicles.

This week we have been writing our stories based on the books by Simon Bartram, which we have been enjoying reading in class. The children have written some great stories about Bob, the man on the moon. Well done everyone in Year 2!

Here we are in our seats at the theatre in Southport, waiting for the pantomime 'Aladdin' to start. The pantomime was fantastic! We all joined in enthusiastically and had a great time - oh yes we did! 

Year Two in our Christmas jumpers. Don't we look colourful!! We are celebrating winning the attendance trophy yet again. 

This week in our English work we have been learning about instructions. We followed some instructions to make paper snowflakes. We must have read them very carefully because our snowflakes all looked fabulous at the end! 

We made some paper fireworks on November 5th and found out about Guy Fawkes. Our fireworks had lots of colourful patterns on them and we thought of lots of words that use onomatopoeia, like bang, crash and fizz, as well!

On Friday two local firemen visited Year 2 to talk to us about keeping safe and what to do if there was a fire at home. We watched a video and had to answer some questions about it. We all learned a lot and took some information home as well. It was fun to see the fire engine at school too! 

We have been very busy for the last four weeks working on our topic The Place Where I Live. This week we went for a walk to the town centre and looked at some of the buildings like the library. We'll be using these photographs in our art lessons. We had a lovely walk in the sunshine and we even…

On Thursday we had our circus skills day. We had a lot of fun learning to balance feathers, spin plates and juggle. The children all tried really hard and showed they were learning fast. On Friday wrote a recount of our day in English and everyone said how much they had enjoyed it. We said thank…

Last week we worked together to make our lovely class robot. One group made his head, another his body, another group his legs and one group made his bendy, purple arms. Then we put all the parts together. We have called our robot Stellar. We are very proud of him and think he looks great!

The Eco-Warrior club have planted lots of seeds and vegetables in our flowerbeds in the memorial garden. We have been picking our produce today "sugar snap peas." 

We will be eating them during our morning break tomorrow.
