We had all written a postcard to someone and posted it in the postbox after we had sent a parcel to Mrs Burn's friend in New Zealand.

Our role play area in school is a post office. We wanted to find out more about a real post office. We walked to Asda where there is a post office.

On our way back to school after visiting the post office we passed the library so we stopped to have a look in the library and we listened to a story. We had to remember to be very quiet while we were in the library so that we didn't disturb anyone.

We have been learning all about Remberance Day and why we wear poppies. We have made a poppy wreath and written our own poem inside each wreath. They are very impressive!

Bishop Tom came to visit our school. When he came into class we asked him if he would have his picture taken with us and Ted. 

We made a Menorah from playdough, fruit and pipe cleaners. There are nine candles and they stay lit for eight days during the festival of Hanukkah.

We have been learning about the Jewish festival of Hanukkah. It is the festival of light. We made some of the special food from the festival -potato latkes. They tasted really good.

We made some paper fireworks on November 5th and found out about Guy Fawkes. Our fireworks had lots of colourful patterns on them and we thought of lots of words that use onomatopoeia, like bang, crash and fizz, as well!

In English we have been reading and learning about the book "ZOG" by Julia Donaldson. Today we have been on a treasure hunt, reading and finding clues from the story. The hunt was all around our school which was fun and exciting. Here is some of the treasure objects we found. 

Today we were making 3D shapes out of playdoh. We learned new names of different 3D shapes. We also learned about edges,vertices and faces. IT WAS DOH MUCH FUN!!!

During our Skelmersdale topic we went on to the field and thought about where a sculpture would fit and how it would stand out. We looked at different patterns and lines and designed a sculpture for our town. We built our sculptures with different materials. We used papier mache and then painted…

In Y6 we have been making plasticine models of fantasy animals. We have been writing information about it and about its habitat.  Ben went home and actually made a habitat for his creature (above).
